Unbeliable views - both bay and ocean. Carpets need replacing and bathrooms need updating. Indoor pool great.

I stayed at this property about 20 years ago with my in-laws, however it was not unit 1407 but a unit on the 7th floor. During our recent stay we had the privilege of staying in this unit. The unit was, we were greeted when we entered the condo building, the staff could not have nicer and the unit was great, an outstanding view of bay and the ocean,, roomy and clean. It was a most enjoyable time

This is our second stay at the Irene, and our first stay in 1407. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, but the place is not without it's problems. The building itself is great. Good location in a quiet part of the city. Wonderfully large balconies with unobstructed views on both the bay and the ocean sides. As for the unit itself, it was okay, but I don't think we will choose it again. The beds were great - which is the most important thing to me. However, the rest of the place needs work. The showers were awful. Low pressure. The faucets didn't work properly. There were pieces broken off the shower door, leaving sharp edges exposed. Tile is looking old. The balcony furniture was serviceable, but basic, and the lounge chair cushions were lumpy.

The kitchen was the worst. The stove did not heat evenly, food either took forever to cook or burned. The cabinets were crammed with serving platters, baskets, barware, you name it, but nothing decent to cook with except some banged up pans that wouldn't stay level and some mismatched pots. It was like being in a college apartment. They didn't even have a set of measuring spoons. I had to buy some to measure the morning coffee. One of the reasons we prefer a condo over a hotel is that we like to COOK, rather than eat out. It was very difficult to do that here.

Oddly there were no beach toys in the outdoor shed. Not a sand pail - nothing. So we left ours there for the next family.

Manager Response:

Thanks very much for your feedback. We'll share your thoughts with the owner and suggest improvements to make the kitchen more functional.
