Location was great, close to the beach, free tram within all their properties including a great gym. As far as apartment 606. Was clean but the sliding doors to the third bedroom were not operable and could not be closed fully. Called broker and an employee of Sea Colony tried to fix but couldn't. She was one of the swim instructors what would she know about fixing the door! The shower doors in master bathroom the one closest to faucet did not move on track, it was locked in the closed position. Girlfriend got slightly burn't when using the first time. Did not know how the faucet was set. I took this door off the track and it slid freely. I guess the door could be readjusted to slide freely within the track. There were 4 adults & two kids
This was a nice condo in a great location. It is on the 6th floor of Island House, the most southern high rise in Sea Colony East. Bethany Beach was lovely as was Sea Colony. I appreciated the extra layer of security at this quiet, family-oriented resort and also the many amenities - fitness club, tennis, walking trails, many pools, etc. As far as the condo itself, it was apparent that it had been recently updated with new carpet, granite countertops, fresh paint, new appliances, and some new furniture. There were a few issues that need to be addressed however. The closet door in the hallway is broken and couldn't be opened/closed. In addition, the closet/type door separating the den from the entry is also broken and would not slide. The furniture in the den and twin bedroom appears dated and did not fit in with the rest of the condo. As far as cleaning, there were several dirty spots on the off-white carpet that I had to clean when we checked in. I'm not sure a light carpet was the best choice! In addition, there was garbage found behind the microwave and toys under a chair in LR indicating that those areas had not been cleaned. At $3000.00/week, one expects all doors to be working and also a higher level of cleanliness. Overall, the condo was nice. With the above corrections and perhaps a laminate or tile floor throughout instead of easily soiled carpet, it would easily have earned 5 stars.
The unit was not clean. There was substantial black mold growing in the shower door tracks and on the tile in the showers. So much so that I had to buy bleach and other cleaners and a brush to scrub it out. I don't expect to encounter this when I spend $3,000 for a week's stay. The dining table was dirty; it appeared the maids never moved the place mats to wash off the table as there were crumbs and coffee spills under the mats. The kitchen floor had not been swept and there were crumbs along the floor in the corners and under the cabinets. The unit needs more seating in the living room as the unit sleeps at least 6 but there is only seating for 4. Beds were comfortable and it was nice to have beach chairs available but would have been nicer if the renter was made aware of such so I didn't have to bring my own down in the car. The additional expense of having to purchase a badge to use the beach also was something I did not know prior to arrival. That added $160 to my expenses. As we did not use the other facilities at Sea Colony, I feel that charge is not warranted. I will go back to Ocean City next year.
We are sorry the unit did not meet your expectations and would have been happy to send the cleaners back and help make your stay more comfortable. The recreation fee is advertised and not optional when staying at Sea Colony.
