Exploring Ocean City, MD
The town of Ocean City runs 10 miles from north to south and is surrounded by water on 3 sides. Don’t let the small size fool you; there are endless places to explore in and around town. At the southernmost point is the Ocean City inlet, where you can see boats come and go from the Atlantic Ocean, fish off the rock jetty, or visit the Life Saving Museum. The Inlet is also the beginning of the world famous Ocean City boardwalk, which stretches all the way to 28th street, offering entertainment, delicious food, and eclectic shops along its length. At 127th street on the bayside you’ll find the Ocean City Recreation Complex, home to a great playground, ballfields, fishing pier, and walking/jogging path. Various events are hosted at Northside Park throughout the year, including Art’s Alive, 4th of July Celebration & Fireworks, and the Winterfest of Lights.
West Ocean City, just over the Division Street Bridge crossing Assawoman Bay, is a large selection of dining, recreational activities, and the outlet shopping center.
Just 9 miles from Ocean City you’ll find Assateague Island National Seashore State Park, home to the famous wild ponies, sica deer and thousands of birds. Spend a day picnicking on the beach, walking the nature trails, and seeing who can spot the most ponies.
Just a few miles west of Ocean City is the historic town of Berlin. Stroll Main Street and enjoy the antique shops, boutiques, and beautiful Victorian Atlantic Hotel
